Union Fire District of South Kingstown Takes On South Kingstown Police in Community Basketball Game

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chief Steven Pinch is pleased to report that members of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown took on the South Kingstown Police Department this past weekend in a friendly basketball game as a way to meet and engage with members of the community.

The game, which took place on Saturday, March 5, was the centerpiece of a day’s worth of fun and activity at the South Kingstown Community Recreation Center. Members of both the UFD and South Kingstown Police met with residents before the game, and the event also featured face painting, a free throw contest for kids, a Touch-a-Truck event with first responder vehicles, and a raffle for four tickets to a URI Men’s Basketball Game.

The game was closely contested, with the South Kingstown Police narrowly winning by a score of 44-42.

“This was a terrific event, and we’re already looking forward to a rematch next year,” Chief Pinch said. “Congrats to the South Kingstown PD, and thanks to all of the members of the community who came out to meet and support their local first responders.”
