We welcome young men and women who want to serve their community for as long as they want. Some stay a few years and others for decades. Many of our volunteers start with us and make a career in the fire service and the district provides members the option to prepare for a paid fire department. Some follow a medical path, others learn a lot of new skills and use them in their current or future jobs.
Joining the UFD means that you pick one of our 8 stations and become a member of that station. You can join a station based upon proximity to where you live, or if they specialize in something that you want to do like being on the ladder truck or the tanker. If you are not sure which one to pick, check out stations listed at the top of our website.
It takes a team to fight fires, but members have different responsibilities. It’s very important to be honest if you’re afraid of heights or have any other concerns. You will never be asked to do a task with which you are not comfortable. There are many critical roles and we’ll help you find the one that’s right for you!
