Union Fire District of South Kingstown, Kingston Fire District Offering Scholarships

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chief Steven Pinch of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown and Chief Nathan Barrington of the Kingston Fire District are pleased to announce that the two departments, in conjunction with the Town of South Kingstown, are offering six scholarships this year totaling $10,000.

The scholarships will include one for $2,500, two for $2,000, one for $1,500 and two for $1,000.

Any student applying for a scholarship must be a graduating senior in the class of 2021 or a current South Kingstown Firefighter and meet one of the following requirements to apply:

  • Be a relative of a current member of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown or the Kingston Fire District.
  • Be a current member of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown or the Kingston Fire District.
  • Be a senior attending South Kingstown High School or the Prout School pursuing a career in Fire/Emergency Medicine.

Students must complete the online application no later than April 30, providing the name of a two- or four-year college, technical or trade school, or accredited EMT or higher medical training program of study.

The application requires the student to write, in 300 words or less, what public service means to them.

A high school transcript is also required, and must include first semester senior grades if the student is graduating high school in 2021. Transcripts must be emailed to skfirescholarships@gmail.com with the student’s last name and “2021 South Kingstown Firefighter Scholarships” in the subject line.
