In recent weeks, observers passing by the Matunuck Fire station may have noted the presence of construction equipment and fencing surrounding the premises, prompting curiosity about ongoing developments. We are pleased to officially announce the commencement of construction on a state-of-the-art firehouse facility. This endeavor entails the demolition of the existing station to pave the way for the construction of a modernized infrastructure designed to meet the evolving needs of our community. As progress unfolds, we invite residents to anticipate forthcoming updates, underscoring our commitment to advancing public safety in Matunuck.

The Matunuck Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1978 and houses Engines 18 and Tanker 19 along with Rescue Boat 7. We are a non-profit organization that is here to help protect and keep the citizens of our community safe. As one of the seventh of eight volunteer fire stations in South Kingstown, which does well over five hundred calls a year, we work hard to keep the citizens of the town safe.

The association holds a breakfast fundraiser on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend each year. The proceeds get turned around and given back to the community in many different ways. For example, we buy food and assorted items to those in need during the holiday season.

We are always looking for new membership here at the station, stop in on a Wednesday night during drill hours(6:30- 9:00pm) or call and leave us a message.
