The Union Fire District Fire Marshal’s Office Fire Prevention Program is committed to serving the residents of South Kingstown by prioritizing their safety and protecting their property. This program focuses on proactive measures to identify and minimize fire hazards, raise awareness about fire safety practices, and ensure compliance with town regulations. The Fire Prevention Program of the Union Fire District Fire Marshal’s Office encompasses various components tailored to the unique needs of South Kingstown. This includes risk assessments, development of town-specific fire safety policies, prevention initiatives, education campaigns, meticulous documentation of inspections and incidents, and continuous improvement through evaluation and adaptation of fire prevention strategies. Through these comprehensive measures, the program strives to fulfill its mission of protecting the people and property of South Kingstown from fire risks.
Residential smoke alarm and carbon monoxide Certificates are required for the resale of existing homes.
Smoke Alarm Inspections are conducted during normal business hours on a schedule determined by the Fire Marshal.
The $30.00 inspection fee must be received, prior to the inspection.
NOTE: You are advised to schedule your inspection to take place at least 2 weeks prior to your closing to allow for any deficiencies to be corrected.
The Union Fire District utilizes the Town of South Kingstown’s ViewPoint Cloud E-Permitting system for all plan review. The system is 100% electronic and no paper plans are accepted. All building related permits are issued through Town of South Kingstown’s Building Department. Fire Plan Review is performed under respective Building Permit, Mechanical Permit or Electrical Permit dependent on the scope of work.
Tent permits may also be attained through the Town of South Kingstown’s ViewPoint Cloud E-Permitting system.
Tank removal permits may also be attained through the Town of South Kingstown’s ViewPoint Cloud E-Permitting system. Choose ‘General Fire Permit.’
Fireworks permits may also be attained through the Town of South Kingstown’s ViewPoint Cloud E-Permitting system. Choose ‘General Fire Permit.’
Underground fire service main permits may also be attained through the Town of South Kingstown’s ViewPoint Cloud E-Permitting system. Choose ‘Mechanical Permit.’
