The Union Fire District, South Kingstown EMS, and the South Kingstown Police Department recently participated in the ‘High Fives for Heroes’ event, visiting local schools where students and staff showed their support for first responders. This heartwarming event, held annually, brings together the community to express gratitude for the dedication and bravery of those who serve and protect. As the departments made their way through various schools, students eagerly lined up to give high-fives, wave signs, and share words of encouragement.
Lieutenant Mathew Viner of the Union Fire District expressed his appreciation for the support. “It means a lot to see the community come together to show their gratitude. Events like these remind us why we do what we do,” he said. “I also take this opportunity to remember and honor those we have lost in the line of duty, especially on 9/11. Their sacrifices inspire us to continue serving with pride and commitment.”
The ‘High Fives for Heroes’ event served as a powerful reminder of the strong bond between first responders and the community they serve. The Union Fire District extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and showed their support during this special event.
