We are pleased to announce that scholarships have recently been awarded to several deserving individuals through our collaboration with The Kingston and Union Fire Districts, as well as the town of South Kingstown. These scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500, are aimed at supporting graduating high school seniors and current South Kingstown firefighters and their families in their educational and career pursuits.
To be eligible, applicants had to meet one of the following criteria: have a family connection to a current or life member of either fire district, be an active member of either fire district, or be a senior at South Kingstown High School or the Prout School with career aspirations in Fire/Emergency Services. Additionally, they needed to submit the required documents, including the completed SK Firefighter Scholarship application, designation of the intended institution for higher education or training, and a high school transcript with first semester senior grades for 2024 graduates.
The scholarship awards ceremony took place on May 22, 2024, at the Union Fire District training facility. Chief Pinch from the Union Fire District and Chief Reed and Deputy Chief Brierley from the Kingston Fire District presented the scholarships to the recipients.
We extend our congratulations to the scholarship recipients and look forward to supporting their future endeavors in higher education and training.
