Chief Steven Pinch on behalf of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown (UFD) is pleased to announce that Ret. Deputy Chief Kevin Quinn has been named the 2023 Frederick A. Stanley Dedicated Service Award winner.
On Wednesday, June 28, the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League presented the award to Quinn at their annual President’s Steak Fry Meeting.
Nominations are accepted each year in November for the Frederick A. Stanley Dedicated Service Award by the RI Southern Firefighters League, with the criteria based on the traits of a United States Marine. Chief Stanley served proudly as a US Marine and lived by the phrase “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” Chief Stanley was chief for 50 years at the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District that serves Hopkinton and Richmond. Chief Stanley served in the fire service for over 67 years.
This year UFD Chief Steven Pinch nominated Quinn for the award. The prestigious award is given to a member of the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League who has gone above and beyond to contribute to the League and its members.
Quinn is a retired Deputy Chief of the Union Fire District and remains an active firefighter at UFD Station #3, Forestry. Quinn has been involved in the fire service on a national level for over 40 years where he served in many capacities including Chair of the National Volunteer Fire Council.
“I’m honored to nominate Chief Quinn for this prestigious award,” said Chief Pinch. “I want to congratulate him for his steadfast dedication and commitment to the fire service. He truly deserves the recognition.”
