Union Fire District Takes Part in Multi-Agency Water Rescue Training Drill

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chief Steven Pinch reports that members of the Union Fire District took part in a multi-agency water rescue training drill this week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, Stations 5, 7, and 8, along with Special Hazards from Station 1 and Chief 6, participated in a joint night exercise with the Narragansett Fire Department and South Kingstown and Narragansett Harbormasters to simulate a response to a multiple casualty event on the west wall of the Pt. Judith Harbor of Refuge Breakwater.

The exercise was meant to test the response of local assets to a particularly difficult-to-access area of town, and to train on new techniques brought forth by the Narragansett Bay Marine Task Force (NBMTF) in the efficient and safe evacuation of injured persons waiting for EMS units if the need ever arises.

The Union Fire District wishes to thank all local area partners for a great week of valuable training.
