SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chief Steven Pinch is pleased to report that members of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown hosted a local Cub Scout troop recently.

On Sunday, June 6, members of the Union Fire District, including Assistant Fire Marshal Dennis Bernier and Tuckertown Station 8 Captain Tyler Parks, hosted scouts from Pack 6 of West Kingston as part of a fire prevention awareness day.

Members of Pack 6, which is sponsored by Tuckertown Station, were given a tour of the UFD training grounds on Asa Pond Road, including seeing multiple fire vehicles up close. They were also educated about proper fire prevention measures and safety tips. Sparky the Fire Dog was also present to greet the scouts.

“In addition to the work our members do keeping the community safe, it is always a

leasure to educate our young residents about proper fire safety,” Chief Pinch said. “There are many things families can do to keep themselves and their homes safe, and that includes children.”

Additionally, the Union Fire District would like to offer fire prevention tips for all residents, courtesy the National Fire Protection Association.
